Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia is a separate and independent Licensee of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, a health insurance trade association with membership including separately organized, local Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans. With Blue Cross Blue Shield local providers licensed throughout the USA, BCBS provides excellent health insurance to more than 25% of American consumers. BCBS has provided high quality and reasonably affordable health insurance and benefits for over seventy (70) years.
BCBS provides a variety of insurance coverage solutions across the United States. Depending on your region, BCBS may offer HMO (health maintenance organization), PPO (negotiated network) plans, PPO network plans with a Health Savings Account (HSA), and Indemnity plans (non-network coverage). Many of these plans (with regional differences) will be available on either a group basis to employers for employee group coverage or available as individual or family plans or, in some regions, as both group and family plans. For seniors, and depending on the region where you live, BCBS offers several plans, including non-network and national Medicare supplemental insurance and local network coverage only Medicare supplemental insurance.
Across the United States, most BCBS providers have now introduced supplementary health services and health care information and guidelines. These supplementary services include covered or fee-negotiated health referrals including vision, chiropractic or alternative medicine. Available health information and guidelines include subject matter such as general health, nutrition, exercise, nutritional supplements, fitness and weight loss, behavioral health, and pediatric health.
